Overview

We're excited to introduce the Collection List element! It displays a list of your store's collections on any page, each with a Collection Image and a Collection Name. You choose which collections appear, whether clicking one opens its collection page, and how many show at once. By default, each collection pulls its own image and name straight from Shopify, so the list stays up to date automatically.

Adding the Collection List

The Collection List element is available in the Collection category of the Add elements popup. As part of this update, the "Collection" category is now available on all page types, so you can add a Collection List anywhere you'd like to feature your collections.

In the builder, open the Add element popup.
Open the Collection category.
Select Collection List to add it to your page.

📝 The Collection List element can be added on all page types. The Collection Image and Collection Name elements are the exception, they can only be added inside a Collection List.

Choosing which Collections to Show

Once the Collection List is on your page, choose which collections it displays. Two options are available:

Specific Collections: manually select the collections you want to show. You can add up to 15 collections (this is a Shopify limitation).
All Collections: automatically display every collection in your store, up to a maximum of 30.

📝 With All Collections, new collections you create in Shopify appear automatically (up to the 30 maximum), so you don't have to update the element each time. You can also add a "Show More Collections" button below the list so visitors can load the rest.

How each Collection is Displayed

Each item in the list is made up of:

Collection Image: the collection's image
Collection Name: the collection's name
Additional elements: other elements you add to the item through the Add elements popup

Collection Image and Collection Name are two new nested elements introduced specifically for use inside a Collection List.

By default, the Collection Image uses the Shopify Collection Image setting, which pulls each collection's main image directly from your Shopify admin. This keeps the images dynamic, so every collection shows its own image without any manual setup.

📝 The Collection List uses one shared layout for every collection item. Changing the image to the Custom Image option, adding an element, or restyling one item applies that same change to all the other items too. To keep each collection showing its own image, leave the image set to Shopify Collection Image.

Setting the Click Action

Decide where visitors go when they click a collection item. Under Click Action, choose:

None: clicking an item does nothing (useful when the list is for display only).
Same collection (default): clicking an item takes the visitor to that collection's page.

These same Click action options are also available on the Collection Image and Collection Name elements, so you can set the click behavior on the parent Collection List or on either child element.

📝 The Click action applies to the whole list. Setting it on one item sets it for every item.

Adjusting the Layout

The Layout tab controls how your collections are arranged and how many appear:

Collection per Line: set how many collections show on each line, using the slider or input field.
Collection Spacing: set the space between collections with a preset value (S, M, L, XL), or choose Custom to set an exact value in pixels with the slider or input field.
Maximum collections to show: limit how many collections display initially, before the visitor loads more.

📝 Maximum collections to show and the Show More Collections button are available for All Collections only. With Specific Collections, every collection you've selected is shown.

👉 Important Notes

One shared layout for all items. Every collection in the list shares the same layout. Any change you make to one item (switching to a Custom Image, adding or removing an element, or restyling) is automatically applied to all the others. This keeps the list consistent, but it means items can't be customized individually. For that reason, leave the image on Shopify Collection Image so each collection shows its own.
You can add up to 15 collections with the Specific collections source. This is a Shopify limitation. The All collections source displays up to 30 collections.
Collection Image and Collection Name can only be used inside a Collection List element.
The Collection List element can be added on all page types.
The Collection List element can't be added to Global Sections.

FAQs

Why can't I add the Collection Image or Collection Name element on its own?

Both are nested elements built specifically for the Collection List. They only work inside a Collection List, so they won't appear as options in other parts of the builder.

What's the maximum number of collections I can show?

Up to 15 with Specific collections (a Shopify limitation), or up to 30 with All collections.

Do I need to update the element when I add a new collection in Shopify?

Not if you're using All collections. New collections appear automatically, up to the 30 maximum. With Specific collections, you'll add any new collections manually.

Can I add a Collection List to any page?

Yes. The Collections category and the Collection List element are available on all page types.

Can I stop a collection from being clickable?

Yes. Set the Click action to None and clicking a collection item won't take the visitor anywhere.

Can I style one collection differently from the others?

No. The Collection List uses a single shared layout, so any change to one item (a custom image, an added element, a style tweak) applies to every item. If you need individually styled collections, build them with separate elements instead.

Can I set a custom image for just one collection?

No. Switching the image to Custom Image changes it for every collection in the list. To keep each collection showing its own image, leave the setting on Shopify Collection Image.
