Overview
Section Split Testing in Zipify Pages lets you test and compare multiple versions of individual page sections to see which one drives better results based on real customer behavior. Whether you're optimizing your Buy Box, headline banner, testimonials, or product feature highlights, you can create up to 4 variants for each section test and track how each one impacts key metrics like revenue, add to cart rate, and engagement.
Each test includes customizable settings like traffic distribution and winner selection mode. You can choose to pick a winner manually or allow automatic selection based on a specific test goal, such as Content Interaction Rate, Add to Cart, or Revenue, over a defined test duration. A streamlined sidebar panel makes it easy to manage all your active and draft tests from one place—so you can make smarter, data-backed decisions without needing to duplicate and test entire pages.
Creating a new Section Split Test
To get started, open the page you'd like to run a section test on inside the Zipify Pages builder. Each page can have only one active Section Split Test at a time.
This limitation ensures the integrity of your experiment by isolating which section change is responsible for any impact on key metrics. It avoids data overlap and keeps results clean and actionable.
1. Select the Section you want to test, then click the funnel icon located at the top-left corner of the section. You can choose any existing section (excluding static deprecated/outdated sections) on your page including Buy Boxes, banners, testimonials, and more.
2. Create your section variants. Click the "Duplicate current section" button to create a duplicate of the section. Then click on the duplicate(s) to customize each variant in the builder. You can test changes to copy, layout, media, colors, offers, etc. Up to 4 variants are allowed per test.
3. Set up your test parameters. Click the "Start Test" button in the sidebar to open the split test popup where you can:
Set Traffic Distribution - Choose how you want to distribute traffic (evenly or weighted). 📝Traffic distribution across all variants must equal 100%
Test Goal
Automatically Select: Test will automatically select the best performing variant based on the chosen primary metric.
Manually Select: You’ll review results and manually select which variant to keep.
Test Duration
If "Automatically Select" is chosen, set how long the test should run by selecting a preset duration or entering a custom time frame. Once the duration ends, a winner will be selected automatically based on your chosen goal metric.
If "Manually Select" is chosen, the test will continue running until you decide to stop it and manually pick a winning variant.
Choose Primary Metric
Content Interactions – How many times people clicked on elements in the section.
Content Interactions Rate – The % of views that led to clicks (
Content Interaction ÷ Views
).Add to Cart Clicks – The number of times someone added a product to the cart from this section.
Add to Cart Click Rate – The % of views that led to an add to cart (
Add to Cart ÷ Views
).Views – The number of times this section was seen.
Add to Cart Value – The total dollar value of products added to the cart from the section.
4. Launch your test. Once everything looks good, click the Start Test button. Only one active test is allowed per page at a time, but you can Save unlimited drafts for future use.
📝The test will begin immediately if the page is Published; if you start a test before publishing, it will automatically begin once the page goes live.
Split Test Sidebar
All section tests are managed through the Split Test Sidebar, accessible via the funnel icon at the top-right of the builder. This panel keeps your experiments organized and makes it easy to take action as results come in. From here, you can:
View all Active, Draft and Completed section split tests on the current page.
Click the "Test Results" button to view data for active and completed tests, and manually pick a winner for active tests based on performance.
Click the ✏️ button to edit a test or the 🗑️ button to delete a test.
📝Deleting a split test removes all stats, and only the first variant of the section will remain.
Picking a Winner
You can end a test and select a winner manually at any time, even if the test is in automatic mode. If you’ve chosen Automatic, Zipify Pages will automatically declare a winner based on your selected goal metric after the test duration ends. The winning section will automatically replace the original on your live page.
To manually select a winner for an active test:
Open the Split Test Sidebar by clicking the split test icon in the top toolbar.
Click the "Test Results" button for the active section test.
Choose your preferred variant by clicking the radio button next to it.
Click "Apply Winner" to end the test and make that variant live on your page.
A confirmation popup will appear summarizing the changes. Click "Apply Winner" again to confirm your selection. Applying a winner will:
Make the selected variant live on your published page
Delete all other test variants
End the split test
Important Notes
A Section Split Test cannot be started while a Page Split Test is active on the same page. To maintain reliable results, only one type of split test can run at a time. Running both simultaneously could lead to conflicting data. You'll need to stop the existing page test before starting a section test.
Only one active Section Split Test is allowed per page to ensure accurate, isolated results.
Section Split Test limits are based on your Zipify Pages plan. Most plans include 1 active section split test at a time. If you're on the Advanced Plan, you can create and run unlimited section split tests across your pages.
📝Page split test limits are separate and not affected by section test limits.
You can create and save unlimited test drafts on the same page.
Split Tests are unique to each page. Duplicating a page does not carry over test configurations.
Metrics are only tracked after a test is started, and data collection stops if the test is ended.
Split testing is also available for Global Sections.
Copying a section (via copy, add from existing, favorites, or sharing) does not copy the split test.
Split testing is not supported for the Blog Posts list, Product Section Placeholder ("Partial Customization" Product Pages), or deprecated/outdated sections.
